Life & Beauty! Two words; world apart yet must for anyone. Imagine a beautiful day when you wake-up feeling life – yellowish glittery sun painting the blue sky with the strokes of red, pink and orange, hiding behind white clouds like small child hiding behind a colourful curtain and all these magnificent things taking place in the chilly and foggy month of January. How beautiful it is to imagine this, right?!
The beauty is surely poured in life via eyes of the person who wish to see but the real question arises when we ask ourselves “Do we really intent to see it?”. Let’s go out; let’s see the world. Let’s just get started from our own cities. Everyone feels proud while saying his/her city is beautiful place to have life, to live; of course he/she should have proud of it ‘cas he/she has spent his/her life there. Just before feeling proud how about asking ourselves a question “Is our city beautiful?” With great grief I find answer to be no for my city. So, next question that should shoot to us is “Why? Why our cities are not beautiful?” and with the greatest shock answer lies within our soul.
Beauty lies only where cleanliness exists; and till I know my city is not clean, is yours clean? If yours is then we should be happy for such a heavenly soul and city.
But if your answer is no then we don’t need to think what makes our city loose its beauty, but we need to think what can be done to stop so we could cherish its true beauty.
Just a few small daily changes in our life and viola! It’s beautified! If we are college students then instead of throwing chocolate wrappers / snack packets or such trash on the roadsides we can keep them in our bags for a while and dispose them when we find dustbin. ( If we think our friends will see it and make fun of us then we can keep it in hidden pocket or can pay no attention ‘cas they would not know how we are better than them. ) If we, being adults, have habit of taking cigarette or chewing tobacco then instead of throwing/spitting them on roads and public places we must find some other good alternative.
What if we want to make the human race beautiful? What if we want happier life? What if we want to appreciate our cities for their prettiness? Anyways life is full of ‘What Ifs’ and these were some of the many ‘What Ifs’! It’s all upon us. Let’s craft courage to change the world. We are the youth. We are the power. We are the change. Stand for this good cause and face the odds to make our cities, states and countries beautiful. ‘Cas Together we can!!!

Today I came across one article. It shows the salaries and facilities that every Member of Parliament ( MP ) is given . Summarizing that article :
· Salary and Daily Allowance –
o Monthly Salary : 12000 Rs/Month
o Daily allowance for House of Parliament : 500/Session
· Constituency Allowance –
o 10000 Rs/Month
· Office Expenses [ 14000 Rs / Month ]
o Stationery for meetings : 3000 Rs / Month
o Franking Letters : 1000 Rs / Month
o Secretarial Assistance : 10000 Rs / Month
· Traveling Allowance & Facilities –
o By air : An amount equal to one and one-fourth of the air fare for each such journey
o By rail : An amount equal to one first class fare plus one second class fare
o By steamer : An amount equal to one and three-fifths of the fare for the highest class in the steamer
o By road : 8 Rs / Km
o Free air journeys : 32 / Yr [ With spouse / PA ]
· Accommodation –
o Rent for MP residences : 0 Rs / Yr
o Free water + electricity : 50000 Units / Yr
· Telephone Facilities –
o Installation Charges : 0 Rs
o Monthly Rental : 0 Rs / Month
o Free calls : 50000 / Yr
o 150000 free calls to 3 numbers from official mobile within one year.
Summing the scenario :
Expense for 1 MP / Month : 2.66 Lakh [ Approx. ]
Expense for 1 MP / 5 Years : 1.6 Cr [ Approx. ]
Expense for 545 MP / 5 Year : 872 Cr [ Approx. ]
Now the questions that arise are :
– Are these MPs worth being paid these allowances and facilities?
– Is it worthwhile that Govt. officials advice CEOs to reduce their salaries who act as governors of economy?
– Every time there is price hike for commodities and goods. What do these MPs do to control them except giving diplomatic speeches and blaming each other?
– Do we pay tax for such “Honest and Kind” MPs?
If you are one of those who get such questions then this is the time. Start standing, make your voice heard. It’s not those who can make change, you are the one who can make change. Start standing for your self, ‘cas no one else can stand for you except you.
